mrrobalo
I can assure you your boat was made in a deferent area than the Cobias. We actually hired most of there workers (the plants were close enough I could bring one over on a forklift . Actually some of our building techniques improved the boat (like a bilge area with raw water pick-ups etc.) We were more customer oriented (owners tournaments ,official boat of Walt Disney World (20 ROBALO patrol boats ) etc. I would not worry as the were still TOTALLY FOAM FILLED when we had them. Any specific questions just ask me.
katiegp
I see the 1999 19' I may purchase on Monday is in the Brunswick era. Is this ok? Are the other years better? The boat looks nice, but how was the construction at that time? Anyone know?
mrrobalo
I was not there then and if I don't know the answer I will tell you and I don't know how they built there boats as far as lamination and the actual building schedgule as well as if they were totally hand laid up as prior to 1993 . I can say that after there first 2 years they stopped totally foam filled them and started using totally there hull and liner designes. I am not badmouthing them in any way I just know we have always had a good following and it is shown in the fact that they are still being manufactured . We do have quite a few members with that era and they should be chiming in before the weekend is over . The best thing I can tell you is bring a flashlight and look everywhere it is hArd to get to that will show you how well the boat is construction is and I tell everyone looking at any brand boat. As far as the motor I would look for ant type of corrosion as well as bolt heads should be painted to the point of looking new. If they show signs of being removed then you can assume that part has been repaired. If possible do a compression check and thy all should be within a few pounds apart . If you can't have a survey done bring a friend with more boating knowledge. Two sets of eyes are better than 1. I usually watch the forum durring the day so you can ask from right there if your phone allows. Good luck
brandonizr
1989 R1800 - How robust were the hulls built in 89? I'm confused by all the info I'm reading....thanks
2-N-TOW
If anything like my '88, nothing to worry about. Just check the transom for any signs of water intrusion / rot, look at the bottom of the hull for any signs of cracks running the length of the hull indicating stringer issues. The Robalos from that time frame had lots of fiberglass in the hulls (that is why they have a reputation for being a little on the heavy side) and the stringers/frames are well built. I can assure you my 2160 can run in rougher stuff than I care to run in, and it shows no signs of any hull weakness.
strick62
Hey guys, I'm looking at a boat, and I can't find any info on it. Ed Pezzi
Hello, I just joined the site. I think MrRobalo might be able to help me with this question. I bought a 1999 Robalo bay boat w/ tunnel hull. I just learned it's the Robalo/ Brunswick era from reading this blog. I have been bringing it back to life for the past year. I was trying to find out more about these boats. I haven't been able to find much on them. Any information you can share with me would be much appreciated. RUDY
I HAVE A 1982 CENTER COUNSEL BUT NOT SURE WHAT MODEL IT IS HOW CAN I DETERMINE THAT? BOAT IS 19' 4" SERIAL NUMBER RALAH332M82G
FullThrottle
Rudy, from hindecoder.com and model is a guess, but here is what they have: Our HULL ID Decoder breaks down the Hull identification number into the following information: The HIN or CIN you have entered meets the Model-Year HIN format. It might also be a type that contains the country code and thus the boat comes from USA or Other . The serial number of the HIN is AH332 and is set by the boat builder. This boat or vessel has a Certification Date of (1982) and a Model Year of 1982 with month of build (February) based on the formatting of your hull_identification_number (HIN) . The manufacturer identification code (MIC) of your craft identification number (CIN or HIN) is RAL. This MIC (RAL) stands for the company name Rauch Aluminum Boats & Fabrications Llc which is currently In Business. This boat manufacturer has other company names (RAL sometimes goes by these name(s) Amf Robalo (oob), Amf Crestliner (oob), Amf Powerboat (oob), or Reaction Boats Inc (oob)). This company (Rauch Aluminum Boats & Fabrications Llc) is owned by Otto Rauch and is located at 7149 Everson Goshen Rd in Everson state of Wa. It manufactured this vessel and placed your HIN or CIN on the hull. This Boat maker is not owned by a parent company. Rauch Aluminum Boats & Fabrications Llc has started making boats, yachts and other watercraft as of 6/4/2018. The Model Name is uncertain for this Rauch Aluminum Boats & Fabrications Llc. But we have approximations: 21 CC or WALKABOUT or CC or CENTER CONSOLE or ROBALO 2520 or 26 SPORTFISH.
Sk8trmomm
hi, my dad worked for robalo in the early 90s. He drove in a commercial for them in 92, in San Francisco I believe. I think it was for the Cobia. I would like to find a copy of it for my dad for his upcoming birthday. I do remember it used the catchphrase 'follow robalo' . any assistance in locating it would be very much appreciated. Thanks
mrrobalo
“ FOLLOW ROBALO “. Was the catch phrase of U S Marine .so it would be in there cataloged starting in 1993. Look through the catalogues to see if you recognize him in them.
Mickey77
Good evening can anyone tell me where and when my robalo has been built? Also I don't have plate on the transom but only some adhesive remained from an old stickers(will it be possible to have them new from the factory?) Any Brouchure or boat specs files? I can't upload pics on this topic CROA23RBB292 NOT SURE first letter is a C or and O. Grazie Mickey
FullThrottle
from hindecoder.com: he HIN or CIN you have entered meets the Current-Format HIN format. It might also be a type that contains the country code and thus the boat comes from USA or Other . The serial number of the HIN is A23RB and is set by the boat builder. This boat or vessel has a Certification Date of (1992) and a Model Year of 1992 with month of build (February) based on the formatting of your hull_identification_number (HIN) . The manufacturer identification code (MIC) of your craft identification number (CIN or HIN) is CRO. This MIC (CRO) stands for the company name Community Rowing Inc which is currently In Business. This boat manufacturer has other company names (CRO sometimes goes by these name(s) , , Robalo Marine Corp (oob), or Robalo Wahoo Marine (oob)). This could happen if the US Coast Guard reissued the MIC to a new company after one went out of business. This company (Community Rowing Inc) is owned by David Snowdon and is located at 20 Nonatum Rd in Brighton state of Ma. It manufactured this vessel and placed your HIN or CIN on the hull. This Boat maker is not owned by a parent company. Community Rowing Inc has started making boats, yachts and other watercraft as of 10/22/2014. 2-N-TOW
Mickey77 - Looks to be a 1992 manufacture date. Since this was when Cobia owned them, I would guess it was built at Sanford, FL. What is the model of your boat or can you provide some pictures?
Mickey77
Thank @2-N-TOW and @FullThrottle for the explanation! anything you think I should check on this year boat? IMG_8087.HEIC IMG_8085.HEIC
