About Me
Grew up on the Lynnhaven River and except for a few years I've either had a boat, or had access to one of my dad's boats. Even had a sail boat for a few years, but most of my boating, skiing, and fishing has been on a powered boat.
I took my kids out on the boat when they were young, and now I take the grandkids out boating and fishing. Trying to make sure the next generation enjoys and respects the water.
I worked in information technology (IT). Started off fixing and programming tube and relay computers and ended up creating architecture and migration plans for DoD to move their IT sites to the cloud. Lots of stuff in between, but I'm retired now and enjoying the lack of deadlines and no more 100 hour work weeks.
Downsized the boat when I retired and put an autopilot on it so I can manage it better alone. I've tripled the number of hours I spend on the boat. Still take out friends and family, but if they can't go, I can still head out. And, the grandkids like the smaller boat better. Lots of this year's hours were towing 'Big Mable' with grandkids and their friends aboard or taking them fishing.
In 2018 upsized a bit to a Sailfish 245DC at wife's request. Needed a bigger boat when taking out the family. Like with the R207 added autopilot, but also added outriggers and radar to increase my fishing capabilities and safety. Love the Garmin Fantom radar.
