  1. I have the same motor on my 1995 2120 CC. I have been running a mirage plus 17 pitch and I get to 5700 with a medium load/fuel. I just put on a mirage plus 19 pitch, but I haven't run it yet. I would think a 15 pitch would be a good place to start.
  2. Hi All, Boat was in last week. Put on about 3 hours. Great day and didn't sink. Working through an intermittent alarm on my Merc 250 EFI. Putting in a new fuel filter to see if the alarm goes away. If that doesn't solve the problem, I think it may be an oil float issue. Boat was floating higher and I gained a couple of miles per hour. I was hitting 5700 RPM's so I may go back to my 19 pitch prop. I did have 4 people with me. So overall I am very happy to have a working boat again. Thank you for all the help.
  3. Just a couple of pics. Starting put everything back together.
  4. Demo work is almost done. I have removed 250lbs of wet foam, and I have about 50lbs left to get out tomorrow. The foam was completely saturated. On a positive note, everything looks great once the foam was removed. My hands and arms have seen better days. I am confident my boat will float a little higher. My new 99 gallon tank looks great, can't wait to get it installed.
  5. Wow, can't thank you enough for the detailed instructions! I'll keep you posted. Dropping off my oldest at college this weekend, so probably won't have much time this weekend.
  6. Hi Dan, I appreciate all the advice. It's definitely wet under the coffin box. My new plan was to cut a larger area to dig out all the foam under the box. It looks like there is a bulkhead on either side of the fuel coffin box. I don't think this area drains into the bilge area. I am comfortable making the hole. I'd leave a 4-5 inch boarder around the floor. Remove all the compromised foam (I would think everything under the gas coffin is wet) My only concern would be on how to seal the floor of the box when I am done. I was hoping not to replace the foam and just make the floor strong enough to still support the 100 gallon tank. It obviously doesn't need to look good. Any advice?
  7. Hi All, Finally got around to cleaning the coffin box. Dan, the second picture shows how the under box drains operate. I noticed that 2 or 3 of the bottom holes used to blow in foam on the bottom of the tank had failed patches. The last several years I noticed my boat was getting a little bow heavy. These holes may have allowed water and gas to get to the foam under the coffin box. I think while I have this open, I'm going to cut in a couple of inspection holes to see if the foam is water logged or if I'm trapping water under the coffin box. The last picture shows the open holes, and where I plan to cut 2 8 inch inspection holes. What do you think?
  8. The coffin box has a drain, so no pooled water or gas. Great news about the straps. I'll power wash the under floor boxes and wait patiently for my new tank. It's been a great bonding experience with my son's...the center console must wiegh close to 450lbs!!!
  9. Finally ready for a late launch this year due to my kids summer sports schedule, and I develop a fuel leak. (Starboard Front Corner) I guess 24 years is a good run for a tank. Pulled the tank, and there was a hole about the size of my finger. The hole was on the starboard front bottom corner of tank. New tank is being made. New lines are going in. Not sure if I should upgrade the rubber strips of the coffin box. Any suggestions? I hope to be back in for a nice fall season in New England.
  10. Very interested in this topic. My 1995 2120 seems to be a little bow heavy. I have wanted to cut an access plate into one of the forward boxes to see if water is trapped before the gas tank coffin. I just haven't had the time or 'balls' to make the first cut.
  11. Who did you use to replace your T-Top canvas? I have a 1995 2120. The top is beyond shot. My top has an opening with snaps around the electronics box so that you don't have to remove any lights and antennas to mount. I don't have a problem dismounting and mounting my electronics to use a solid panel though. Let me know your success stories. Thank you.

  13. 5500 well trimmed. Just checking to see what people are using. 3 blade or 4 blade, pitch...
  14. I have a 1995 2120 that I am repowering with a Merc. 250 EFI. My old Merc 225 was running a Mirage Plus 17 pitch. The new motor is a counter, so I was thinking of a 17 again or a 19. What props are you running?
  15. Its about 100 lbs heavier. Its the same block as the 225 and 250 2 strokes and about the same weight as comparable optimax engines. I would either remove the HP stickers or put 250 stickers on.
